WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST CLASS & CLASS ETIQUETTE

You are ready to start pole dancing - congratulations! We are so excited that you have chosen to join us at Polaris Studios and hope that your pole dancing journey is fun and rewarding at every point.

We’ve pulled together a few few tips and points to make your first class as smooth as possible, but if you have any questions please don’t hesitate to reach out!

WHICH CLASS SHOULD I BOOK? HOW DO I BOOK?

For complete beginners, we recommend any of the following:

  • Intro to Pole and Flexibility - unlimited pole and flexibility classes for 2 weeks for $80

  • Pole Course (any level) - jump right in and commit to a full 8-week course for $240

You can save time by creating your membership online and booking into your classes in advance. This way all you will have to do when you arrive is check in - just give the receptionist your name and you are ready to pole.

  1. You can create a membership via the GymMaster signup portal

  2. Once you have a member login, you can book into classes via the studio timetable

If you’re a complete beginner, the pole classes you’ll be most comfortable in are going to be Beginners Level 1 pole classes and Beginners Pole Flow.

Classes in our beginners pole course will teach you all the basic pole moves, while our Pole Flow class are more dance focused. Additionally, all of our flexibility classes cater for all levels.

WHAT TO EXPECT & CLASS ETIQUETTE

  1. Please arrive 15- 20 minutes early to your first class. This will give you enough time to park, familiarise yourself with the studio, and sign in with our friendly receptionists. We have lovely waiting areas for you so don’t worry about being too early :)

  2. When you arrive for your first class, you’ll be greeted by your teacher who will show you around the studio and the changing area where you can leave your bags and clothes. We recommend taking your valuables (keys, wallet, phone) into the class with you and setting them aside by the walls away from the poles.

  3. Class will be done barefoot and you will find it easiest to wear shorts that end above your knee so that you can use the back of your knee for grip on the pole. Outside shoes are not permitted in the studios so you can either remove your shoes in the changing rooms or just outside the studios. If you already have pole shoes you are more than welcome to wear them in class!

  4. You can take water into the class with you but no food or drink is to be consumed in the studios. We recommend that you bring a towel for sweat and also to wipe your hands with.

  5. If you regularly moisturise you might want to skip it on your pole days - moisturisers, sunscreen and anything oily or greasy on your skin will make it very hard for you to grip the pole!

  6. Remove all jewellery before class - rings are particularly hazardous in pole dancing as well as necklaces, bracelets, earrings… its best to just take it all off!

  7. To respect everyone’s privacy, we don’t allow filming in class. Your teacher may invite you to film at certain points during the class, but we ask you to please ask everyone around you if they mind being recorded, especially if you plan to post on social media later on.

  8. If you’re joining late, we’d ask you to walk around the outside of the class and wait for everyone to stop moving before you approach a pole. This will keep you and everyone around you safe. Please note that we have a 5 minute lockout rule so make sure you arrive on time!

  9. Your teacher may touch you whilst spotting or assisting you in certain positions; if you any issues with this just let us know!

We looking forward to seeing you in the studio! Feel free to get in touch if you have any questions in the meantime.
